A gas explosion in the kitchen of a listed cottage in the town blew apart two cottages and damaged others.

The stone built cottages were initially made safe and then rebuilt using reclaimed and new local stone including the stone tiles for the roof. All works were approved by the local conservation officer so the listed building status was not compromised.
